David Gogo - Vibe (2004) |
This album is the seventh offering from one of Canada's finest blues/rock
musicians and an all original affair. David Gogo has traversed the
country building a loyal following with his incredible live show, and
along the way has developed into one very fine songwriter. But unlike
some artists that are easily pigeon holed to either rock or blues,
David Gogo is neither, and both!
The album opens with a rockin' little number called 'Love in the
City', co-written with Tom Wilson (of Blackie & the Rodeo Kings).
This sets the tone for the rest of the album and helps enhance the
rock side of David Gogo's blues writings. This is immediately followed
by 'Hit Me From Above', a blues banger of the first degree, guaranteed
to get the blood pumping. '300 LB Shoes', a too cool to fool blues
is up next, and thus this album flows like the close comfort of an
old friend.
David Gogo has hit the perfect balance of rock and blues, while creating
an individual sound that is uniquely his own. 'Vibe' is an excellent
example of why David Gogo is one of Canada's hottest recording artists,
and promises to be such for years to come.
